I saw lots of houses with pumpkins and other (to my mind) appropriate decorations for Halloween. BUT . . .
Scarcely two blocks from here is a house with decorations I couldn't believe. Does a psychopath live there? The decorations were all home-made (which means someone put a lot of thought and effort into making them). There were
- pieces of fencing painted with the warning: "Toxic. Keep Out"
- an oil drum painted with the word "TOXIC"
- a baby doll lying under a fire pit screen
- a skeleton-like figure, wearing safety goggles, which was "working" on a human figure on a work bench with a saw, cutting through the figure's midriff, bloody stumps where head, feet, and hands should be (plenty of blood all around)
- head, hands, feet scattered in various places around the yard
I saw around to the side and back of the house that there were children's toys, so I am guessing that young kids live there.
Do these people think that is funny? Are they trying to keep trick or treaters away?
I'll take tacky inflatables any day over that display!

It seems there's nothing too garish, gruesome, stomach turning these days. There were 118 youngsters here at the apartment complex last night for trick and treat. The little ones were adorable....babies looking like lady bugs, all sorts of costumes, but some parents....well, that's another story. I didn't see one fellow but I heard about him. He had a number of little ones, his, I presume, all dressed up in Halloween costumes and he had on butcher's apron or perhaps it was his whole appearance (I didn't actually see him), but it was "dripping" with what looked like blood. I suppose it was a rented costume but what kind of impression does it leave on young minds.
I got to thinking this morning that perhaps the yard display is based on a movie. I have never seen any of them, but I know one called "Saw VI" is out right now. I'm guessing it involves some sick person who uses a saw on his victims. Still objectionable to me.
