Winter Prep

I'm thankful that winter weather has taken it's time in coming this way.  It has given us a few more days to prepare.  Here are some of the things we've done in the last few days to get ready for the inevitable:

  • The last of the carrots have been dug and are awaiting cleaning and storage.
  • The last of the asparagus stalks in the garden will get cut down later today and placed as mulch over the remaining uncovered asparagus plants.
  • The gutters were cleaned out yesterday.
  • The mower has been drained.
  • The snow-blower NEEDS to be tuned up!
  • The last of the double-hung storm windows will be cleaned this week.  (This is something which I had hoped to complete earlier in the Fall!)
  • The beds have been made up with flannel sheets to ward off the chill in our bedroom which can be pretty cold in the winter.
  • The quilts have been removed from storage and placed in a convenient location awaiting usage on much colder nights.
  • We're eating hearty soups much more often.
  • I'm knitting and crocheting again, preparing for Christmas and beyond.

Mission(s) accomplished! Congratulations.
About all we've done is to check the windshield fluid in the car and put the sweatshirts where they're easily accessible. Temperature in the 30's today, snow north of I-70. 60 deg. forecast for Friday!
