Relative humidities will drop to between 15 and 25 percent this afternoon and continue into early evening. Northwest winds of 15 to 25 mph...with gusts to around 35 mph...are also occurring. The dry and windy weather will result in critical fire weather conditions.
A red flag warning is issued when critical fire weather conditions are occurring. A combination of strong winds, very low relative humidity, and exceptionally dry fuels will create dangerous wildland fire conditions. Persons are urged to be careful with any activities that could potentially lead to a wildland fire. Campfires, outdoor grills, smoking materials, chain saws and all-terrain vehicles all have the potential to throw a spark and ignite a dangerous and destructive fire.
I guess we are especially dry because we've had well above normal temperatures this past month and little precipitation.
The temperatures are all over the place. Two days ago here it was 82° and very windy. Today is if 43° and very windy.
