We stayed in two different households while we were in Italy. We knew that each of them had computers with Internet access but we were uncertain as to whether they had wifi.
When we arrived to stay at each place we were told that indeed they did have wifi. When we tried to access it we discovered that the access was, of course, password protected. When we asked for the password our hosts didn't know. But they knew who to ask: their children!
Guess things are pretty much the same around the world!
