A Confession

Because of all the anxiety surrounding the completion of the bathroom and the preparation for the festivities surrounding the upcoming holiday, I fear that I have often been distracted from the meaning of this season.

Our bathroom ordeal began right at the beginning of Advent.  This should have been a time of expectant waiting and preparation not for the ending of a construction project but rather for the celebration of the Nativity of Jesus at Christmas. This should be a season where we often reflect on the original waiting that was done by the Hebrews for the birth of their Messiah as well as the waiting of Christians for Christ's second coming.

Another reminder of human fallibility.  For the future I resolve to resist agreeing to such major, avoidable, distractions at this time of year.
